Please help our little CP warrior receive the therapy she deserves to live a full and independent life.
Taupo, Waikato
My husband and I have two incredible daughters, Elsie who is 2.5 years old and Olive who is 10 weeks old.
Elsie was born at 27+6 weeks. She suffered a brain injury (peri ventricular leukomalacia) resulting in a diagnosis of spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, GMFCS level 3-4. Currently, Elsie does not yet have the strength to sit, crawl or walk independently. While cerebral palsy cannot be cured, there is so much that can be done in the way of physical therapy to help achieve goals and gain independence.
Any physical and occupational therapy Elsie participates in comes at a huge personal cost. Where we live there is little to no paediatric therapy available, therefore we travel to Auckland when we can and partake in intensive therapy programmes. The hourly cost for these sessions is huge, and on top of this we have further costs - travel, accommodation in the city and time off work for my husband or other family members as it takes extra hands to make these trips possible.
While we have received grants towards therapy in the past which we are incredibly grateful for, Elsie will benefit from physical therapy throughout her entire life, therefore we have reached the point where we need to ask for help to allow Elsie to continue to get the therapy she needs and deserves. Our goal of $5,000 would cover roughly one year of therapy.
We appreciate any donation, big or small, and we are so grateful for the support.
Love, Greg Kim, Elsie and Olive

Intensive Therapy 7 September 2023
Hi everyone 👋🏼
This week we made the trip to Auckland for a few days of intensive therapy. We had two physiotherapy sessions and two occupational therapy sessions over the last two days, and Elsie worked so hard! Proud is an understatement. We were fortunate enough to trial an electrical stimulation device for the second time and could see some great results. With the electrodes providing stimulation to a few select muscles, Elsie was able to sit on a bench independently for short periods and was also able to weight bear independently for short periods while holding onto a bench for support. This is huge progress 😍 We will be purchasing an e-stim device for home and getting training so that we can incorporate this into our daily home therapy, as well as picking up a new physio bench tomorrow which we will use daily at home for multiple exercises. Greg and I also have lots of work to do helping Elsie to learn transitions such as moving from sitting to lying/lying to sitting. We will also be teaching these transitions to our loved ones so that they can incorporate this into their routines when Elsie is in their care, with the idea that with consistent practice, Elsie will learn to do them all by herself. We get training, they get training, everyone gets training! 🌸
A huge thanks to all of you for making this trip and future trips possible. We can’t wait to come back! X
Oh, and we can’t finish without a shout out to our sweet little Olive whose just happy to be here 🥰
