I've created this page to try and help Sean Fulfill his dream before his time runs out

Canterbury

Sean is a 39 year old solo father of 3. He has raised his children, now teenagers, on his own - with the added stress of his middle child having a brain injury. Sean has managed this all while working full time to support them. Two years ago Sean moved to Australia to begin a better life for himself and his children, but unfortunately earlier this year he was diagnosed with chronic heart failure. This was attributed to a mitral valve deterioration and a split down one side of the muscle from pulmonary odema. Sean was told that he would be lucky to live until Christmas.

Since being made aware of his illness, Sean has since relocated himself and his family back to New Zealand. Sean withdrew his Kiwi Saver (retirement fund) and bought a yacht to travel as much as possible before his illness became too debilitating. Purchasing a boat with the intention to travel has always been a dream of Sean’s but unfortunately last week he ran into some trouble. This has occurred in Christchurch and has resulted in his boat now being stranded at New Brighton Beach.

With no means to get it back on the water or repair the damage to to the boat, Sean is now giving up on his dream and has advertised the yacht for sale.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
