Milo has been diagnosed with large bladder stones causing possible stage 3 kidney disease. We need your help to get him the care he needs.
Wellington
Our beautiful yorkie Milo has been diagnosed with extremely large bladder stones which may have caused stage three kidney disease at the very young age of 7.
He is the sweetest dog who loves endless cuddles and playing at the beach with his best friend Millie.
A month ago Milo starting vomiting and losing a lot of weight. We took him to our vet for what everyone thought was a tummy bug and he was given some medication to help with the nausea until it passed. Since then he has completely gone off his food and lost even more weight.
Blood tests initally indicated stage three kidney disease with off the charts readings. With further X-ray and ultrasound testing our vets have picked up multiple very large bladder stones which he needs immediate surgery for to avoid a blockage and further complications.
At this stage our vets are still unsure if the bladder stones could have caused the possible kidney disease. Further testing is required.
Milo will be at the vets for another few days on fluid therapy before he will be stable enough for surgery to remove his bladder stones.
So far the costs have come to $1650.00 for vet visits, tests, fluid therapy and hospital stay with a further $1700.00 to be paid for his surgery. We also have an estimate of another $1500.00+ for further testing, ongoing regular fluids and blood tests.
Ordinarily we wouldn't ask for help and we would spend every dollar we had on either of our dogs to give them all the care they needed. Unfortunately this time we can't, we have just had our first baby, Ryder, who is 4 months old and so with a baby to provide for we really need help to give Milo a fighting chance.
Milo has given us so much joy and he still has so much life to live, we want nothing more than for our son to grow up with both of his dogs.
Every little bit will help and we are so grateful for any help.
We want to be able to get Milo the tests and surgery he needs so we can provide the best treatment to make him better
To go towards his current vet bill for tests, bladder stone surgery & hospital stay. Any further tests and treatment required. Ongoing regular blood tests, fluid therapy and special diet.
Any funds raised that we don't need will be donated to the SPCA.

We have heard back from Hills Science about Milo. He’s a special case and vets have been discussing him with scientists in America.
He has two issues going on, calcified bladder stones and kidney disease. They have been trying to decide the best diet to put him on. Either diet to help kidneys (which he’s currently on) or diet to stop calcium build up which causes stones which caused kidney disease in the first place.
They have decided kidney disease is the most important to treat as it has the biggest risk of a horrible outcome.
So to try to prevent the bladder stones we have to give lots of water, and have 3 monthly X-rays to check stones and to catch them early enough so they can be flushed out with a catheter.
