To fund trial drugs for Logan's Leukaemia treatment.
Nationwide
UPDATE 24 March:
Thank you everyone for the love and support. It means the world to both of us.
Logan will soon complete a month of full strength treatment. We’ve seen a response with the Venetoclax - the leukaemia is holding constant rather than increasing at the moment. This is good news at this stage and hopefully we’ll see it start to shrink in the future.
Other complications and difficulties come up daily and it’s been very tough for Logan recently, but we’re doing everything we can to make it easier.
There is lots of positive news, on the 12th Logan and I had a very small and simple ceremony in hospital and now we are officially married! We are both very happy, and although simple, the night was very special. If possible, we’ll look to do a celebration with friends and family outside the hospital in the near future.
Finally in some quite surprising news, our application for compassionate funding from pharmac has proven successful for Logan’s Azicitidine medications. This means that future rounds of this treatment can be funded through the public system and can also be given through the public system. Meaning less financial stress and medicinally a much smoother ride for Logan. Additionally, we also applied to the company that produces Venetoclax and they have granted funding in the future for medication. Logan’s doctors weren’t expecting the application to be successful, so it is wonderful news. While it’s been an expensive journey so far, and will continue to be for a little while longer, the support we’ve received from everyone here has made Logan’s treatment possible and a weight has been lifted knowing that the long-term costs in the future will be managed.
Much love and thank you all for the unbelievable outpouring of love and support.

22-year-old Wellingtonian, Logan Morton, was struck with acute myeloid leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer, in 2017. Undergoing radical therapies including a stem cell transplant that kept him in Wellington Hospital for seven months, Logan was declared cancer-free early last year.
Tragically, though, cancer has hit back -- and hard. Now facing another grim prognosis with his leukaemia having relapsed, Logan’s best chance is through the use of first-generation trial drugs which currently need to be privately funded and administered in a private hospital. While these drugs have been approved for use in New Zealand, they are not yet funded - and are unfortunately very expensive.
Given the circumstances Logan and his partner Jeremy, having been together for five years, have decided to get married and would love to be able to create a special and memorable day with loved ones.
We are hoping to raise funds to support Logan to access these first generation trial drugs, which cost around $10,000 per week. Not only will these drugs help Logan, but they will add to the growing research around their effectiveness that will help others in the future.
Some of the funds raised will also go towards helping Logan and Jeremy on this tough journey, creating some beautiful memories, such as getting married, and living life to the fullest.
Any help you may be able to give to support Logan and Jeremy to fund these drugs and create some special memories will be deeply appreciated.
As a colleague and, more importantly, a friend of Logan and Jeremy's, I want to help them to be able to fund these drugs and enjoy their time together while they go through this extremely difficult time.
Any funds raised will be used to help fund trial drugs for Logan's treatment. Some of the funds raised will also go towards helping Logan and Jeremy create some special memories while on this difficult journey.
