It has been suggested by a few people that this page may be a good way for those of you wanting to help Poppy.
Canterbury
Poppy was born early at 35 weeks with a condition known as arthrogryposis. She came into this world like a little rock star demanding a lot of attention and medical intervention in NICU. 38 days later we were home on a feeding tube thinking yes we have made it.
However Poppy also decided to tick a few more boxes upon leaving NICU including severe reflux, an ASD, laryngomylasia, tracheamylasia and chronic lung disease. For her this has meant her time at home has been very limited.
Post operation, Nissen fondoplication she had four of the most amazing days at home. She smiled and played, just like her twin ...melting mummy's heart.
However here we are again having had a stay in the intensive care unit and currently back in HDU.
This fundraising is to help Poppy with anything that will keep her well. she is prone to respiratory illnesses and infections so the plan is to fundraise to install an HRV or clean air system in our home and if she continues to struggle with temperature regulation a heat pump in her room. As she grows it will become more apparent what kind of equipment she will need to help her move and hopefully, eventually walk.
The road unfortunately is going to be long for this popstar with many more hospital stays predicted and possible operations being carefully planned in the background.
I am Poppy's mama and am forever being asked what the girls need and what can people do. It's been really hard and most of the time I'm so focused on what's happening right at that moment it's hard to think of the future. The nurses and doctors have been amazing and this was a great suggestion cause now I can say check out Poppy's page it's a great way to help with anything she needs.
9 months Old 13 October 2015
I am typing this from chch hospital in a room on the children's ward dreaming of home, it's been a huge 9months and the girls are growing. We have managed to get an HRV installed at home and it helps when Poppy is able to be at home. We have also managed to buy another car that means we can fit Poppy's specialised chair and car seat making taking her in the car a lot safer. She continues to throw curve balls at us daily and our days in hospital continue to grow. Our next adventure is to get Poppy's body to recognise movement so we are trying to get a rocking base for her specialised chair which isn't funded and is quite expensive and are looking for a swing that she can lay down in as she struggles to sit without a lot of support. Thanks to all those lovely people who continue to follow our Popstars journey.
