Main image

Priyashna is a 16 years and 3 months old girl who could live a normal life with a kidney transplant.

Kidney transplant cost is estimated at $130000.00nz

Priyashna Kumar has kidney failure and requires regular dialysis to stay alive. She does her own dialysis at home, starting from 8am ,done every four hours and last one finishes at midnight, which is done four to five times a day and everyday.

She used to have haemodialyisis three times a week at dialysis centre which was more convinient but due to being so expensive, she had to choose another alternative called peritoneal dialysis.

Peritoneal dialysis still costs her $4000 a month .

Priyashna is from Fiji and is not a New Zealand resident so she does not qualify for publicly funded health care here. Priya lives in Auckland and has majority of her family members in New Zealand, who are new Zealand residents and citizens, who all work hard to support her and pay for her dialysis.

we are most thankful to the general public aswell who have generously helped with fundraising with raffles and donations.

Priyas dream is to go back to school as soon as possible as at the moment she is stuck at home doing her dialysis.she has missed school since last two and half years as we can only afford to keep her alive.

She does home school .

She also cant play soccer nor swim which is her hobby due to her dialysis line sticking out of her abdomen and also two and half litres of fluid in her abdomen restricts her movements and she cant jump, run etc as to avoid complications which can arise from abdomen full of fluids 24/7.

Sooner she gets her transplant better for this child to have a life.

Your help can get her to achieve her dreams come true.

Only Priyas dad and a sister live in Fiji and they have not met each other ,since august 2014.

Priya's mother abandoned her When she was 8 years old.Priya lives with her aunty Praveen in auckland.Praveen is a critical care nurse at Auckland City Hospital. Praveen will donate a kidney to her niece but the surgery and hospital care required Is very costly ,unfortunately Praveen has to pay for her surgery as well,so she could donate her kidney, reason being that the organ is given to a non resident, despite Praveen holding NewZealand Citizen.

This is due to eligiblity act.

Priya's family are working hard to support her and her new kidney will come from within her family, but they need help so that the same doctors and nurses who transplant kidneys for New Zealanders can do the same for Priya.
