Help keep our therapy horses warm this winter! We’re raising funds for weather-proof covers to protect our hardworking herd from the cold.
Auckland
At Ambury Park Centre, our horses are more than just animals; they are healers, teachers, and friends. Every week, they provide life-changing therapy and joy to children and adults in our community living with disabilities.
As winter approaches, we need your help to give back. We are raising funds to purchase high-quality, durable winter covers (rugs) for our entire herd.
Why Do Our Horses Need Covers?
While horses have natural coats, our superstars have unique needs:
🐴 Regulating Temperature: Many of our therapy horses are "golden oldies." Older horses struggle to maintain body heat in the biting cold. A cover acts as a personal insulator so they don't waste vital energy staying warm.
🐴 Protection from Elements: Our horses spend significant time outdoors. Waterproof and windproof covers protect them from heavy rain and freezing winds that can chill them to the bone.
🐴 Muscle Health: Cold weather leads to stiff joints. To carry riders safely, horses must stay supple. Keeping muscle groups warm prevents injury and ensures they feel their best.
🐴 Weight Maintenance: Cold horses burn fat stores rapidly to stay warm. Covers ensure their high-quality feed supports their overall health rather than just survival.
