The PUPP Project's goal is to eradicate canine parvovirus in New Zealand by providing free dog vaccinations to low income families
Auckland
Parvovirus or ‘Parvo’ is a common killer of puppies & young dogs in Aotearoa. It causes vomiting, diarrhoea and death.
Parvo can be prevented by vaccination.
Prevalence is higher in lower socio-economic areas, where financial constraints prevent people from getting their dogs vaccinated.
Our mission is to eradicate canine parvovirus in New Zealand by raising awareness about vaccination and providing free or low-cost dog vaccinations to low income families (community services card holders) focusing on South & West Auckland with the long term
By vaccinating a large proportion of dogs within a community, we can achieve "herd immunity" leading to a significant reduction in the spread and risk of parvovirus.
The PUPP Project has applied for charitable status but is still awaiting confirmation.
The PUPP Project stands for 'People Uniting to Prevent Parvovirus'. We aim to stop outbreaks of this deadly canine virus in South Auckland by getting free parvovirus vaccinations to dogs whose owners carry a community services card.
All money raised will go toward the cost of vaccinations, and advertising encouraging public to get their dogs vaccinated, either at their local vet clinic or at one of our PUPP Project free vaccination days
92 Pups Protected against Parvo! 19 January 2020
Our 5th Vaccination day, at Manurewa West School, was a success! Thanks to your contribution, nearly 100 dogs have been protected from this awful disease.
Many of them are now able to leave their property and enjoy the park and the beach for the very first time, as their owners no longer have to worry about them contracting parvo.
Thanks so much for your koha and support. Love, the PUPP project team.
