We are asking our listeners to provide some sustenance to fuel our amazing local content over the next year and help fund our overheads.

As well as all the great music we provide you , every day RadioActive.FM produces an average of six interviews a day on our flagship shows Breakfast, Amplifier, as well as Caffeine and Aspirin, The Flow, Drive, and much-loved specialty shows. That’s at least 2,180 great local interviews a year about new music, theatre, happenings, local issues, and things to do in the Wellington Region.
But RadioActive.FM not only benefits listeners and sponsors - the experience holds huge value to those being interviewed, providing them a platform to promote their project and tell their story directly to listeners in their own unique voice, explaining the work that they do, and why. What you hear is Wellington’s unique local culture - in action!
A Changing Media Landscape
Local content is vanishing…Social media platforms have undermined the traditional business model for the media industry and sadly, local media organisations of all kinds are shrinking - or shutting their doors all together. How do we stay informed, and connected? Local content is needed now more than ever!
We are a volunteer-based community station with NZ on AIR support, which keeps the great tunes pumping year round. (Thank You Volunteers & Thank You NZ on AIR!) We also rely on our great community of businesses and organisations to support our programming. As we soldier on through this economic downturn, our sponsors are also feeling the pinch, and the support we receive from our business whanau isn’t making ends meet.
About us
The Radio Active Charitable Trust was established to run RadioActive.FM, a non profit community radio station in Wellington.
RadioActive.FM has been broadcasting for 48 years and champions emerging New Zealand music artists.
Use of funds
In the current economic environment donations are required to meet the shortfall between our Income and overhead expenses.

Fuel The Frequency 18 November 2025
Huge thanks to you our donors for your support of our Givealittle campaign.
We raised $14,500 directly through the campaign. In addition a group of generous supporters had undertaken to match the first $12,000 raised by donating that amount to us directly. During the campaign we ran two very successful gigs, one at the Hannah Playhouse and a Rave to the Grave in association with Bats Theatre.
All in all we have raised over $30,000 , massive thanks to our donors, musicians who helped with promotion, DJs and sponsors for the gigs.
