Hawke's Bay

Hi this is Renee (Naez) & Chris (City Boy)

On 10th of February we received news that our 11 year old niece Royal had been involved in a swimming incident at school while diving into the pool.

Royal was air lifted from Porangahau to Hastings hospital where family was informed she had broken her neck, shattering 3 cervical vertabrae resulting in a severe spinal cord injury, she was air lifted to Starship hospital for immediate surgery for stabalisation of her neck, this required two 6 hour long surgeries.

Royal spent the next 3 weeks in Intensive Care fighting her way thru her injuries, she has been diagnosed with C6 incomplete Tetrapelegia, and now requires Intensive Physical, Occupational and Breathing Therapy.

Royal has alot of physical and emotional challenges ahead of her and with all the lifestyle adaptations her road to recovery will be for her lifetime, she is staying positive and fighting thru the pain everyday trying to regain movement in parts of her body, she refuses to give up.

Royal has always been an outgoing, fun loving, happy go lucky girl. She is that one girl who always makes sure no one is ever left out, her kind heart never fails, without a doubt she is always there to help anyone who needs it.

Royal is a social butterfly who loves her Kapahaka, dancing, playing guitar, singing, drawing and of course playing the PS4 game.

She is looked up to by her little sister Ocea who is anxiously waiting to visit her big sister this Easter.

We want to raise funds to help Royal on her Road to Recovery and will provide ongoing updates of her progress.

We will also be starting a Private Instagram page for donors so you can actively engage with Royal as she starts her journey to recovery.

Please provide your instagram name in the comment section when making a donation if you would like to be added 😁

To Royal, Nicholas and Ocea, we want you to know we are all here for you.

Even though we cant be next to you right now niecey we are all there in spirit and will be thinking of you everyday ❤ keep being you, we look forward to supporting you on your next journey x

Latest update

Defying all odds.  18 June 2021

Another long awaited update.

It is with much pleasure we bring you the results of what hard work, committment and determination can achieve.

Royal was diagnosed with C6 Tetraplegia incomplete which meant she had a chance to regain some form of mobility.

We were told given the fact she could only twinkle her fingers on her right arm it maybe possible to regain some movement in her top half but unlikely she would be able to walk properly again.

Well here she is, showing us what your support, messages of motivation and pushing thru the pain can achieve.

We are so proud of her, lets keep going Royal ❤
