Rebuild the Emtage Family Lives and Home.

$2,970 donated
Given by 29 generous donors in around 4 months

This fund will go towards helping to repair the damaged lives of a family who have lost their home and their belongings to a fire.

Southland

On August the 25th 2015 my Mum and step Dad had been staying out of town, at 2am they woke to a phone call from a neighbour. To their shock and disbelief, their home of 14 years, the place they were married, was on fire. By the time they arrived at the scene, the house was practically gone. Thankfully and by some miracle we have managed to salvage some photo albums, but the rest lay ashes. At the end of the day we are all truly grateful that no one was hurt.

The goal of this fund is to simply help, to put food on the table, to have a roof over their heads, anything. Unfortunately they were not insured, so every little bit counts.

Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.

Simon Biddle:

I'm the Son of Nicci (step son of Pete), who lost their home. I'm about to start training for the Army reserves and cannot leave Auckland to physically help. I have felt completely helpless and believe this will be a great way to help. I plan on visiting, and doing what I can over the xmas break.

Alex Biddle:

I am their daughter. I live an hour away and will do what I can to help support them and be there as much as I can. It will be a long road to recovery and I want to be there every step of the way.

Trying to move forward  4 September 2015

There is not really much to say on the progress of the house as it is gone, there is nothing left but a "huge deck". I spent the weekend helping them clear some of the rubble. Where my old room was they fully uncovered what's left of the floor boards and put the picnic table on it. Pete put some huge pots around it and shoved some branches in them so they looked like plants. When he ran out of branches he got what's left of his computer chair and made a nice little sculpture. It was very nice considering we were all standing on what used to be my bedroom and now is just a big deck.

I spent the last two days with mum, every now and then she will say something like "Oh, that was in the house". She thinks her and Pete will be doing that for a long time. It is hard to know the full extent of what has been lost, every day a new list of things will come to mind. It is really hard to start from the start again, mum said to me yesterday how it just isn't right, starting again. It is quite a hard time for them at the moment, they aren't used to being the ones that need help.

Again thank you so much to every one who has donated, if you have any questions feel free to ask! if you would like to contact me personally my email is alexandrabiddle123@gmail.com

Thanks again to every one who has donated so far.

Alex
