Rescue Food, Feed People ad Build Community - we invite you to join us!

Christchurch, Canterbury

Since 2018 the Free Store has grown to Monday, Wednesday & Friday’s providing food and now with the addition of Orange Sky we have showers and washing machines available Wednesday & Friday to our Kairos community.

Though we do not classify ourselves as a food bank, our Trust Manager coordinates with other Not-For-Profits and 22 other food banks including the Christchurch Food Bank Network to grow our food supply and share resources. Kairos now re-distributes hundreds of tonnes of food from our warehouse to the community.

Covid 19 was a point of growth for us as we delivered an MSD contract providing 949 food parcels to the community. Our learning from this was that we had the resources to do this.

So with our Free Store open 3 days and the warehouse open 4 days a week we are responding to a real momentum in the community……and we invite you to join us!

About us

Kairos rescues food from supermarkets, cafes, farms and restaurants, and distributes it to food banks, community groups, and churches across Christchurch, ensuring it reaches the people who need it the most.

Use of funds

We have out grown our current location and we invite you to help us to fit out our new location and be a part of the growth!
