Help us raise funds for the best seat in the house! - Kairos Free Store

Canterbury

Have you ever been to the Free Store? Yes that's right the Kairos Free Store – 311 St Asaph St and as our name suggests we are FREE – We rescue food and give it out to anyone, no questions asked, 3 times a week. We can have over 250 people come each week and are seeing this number grow.

Well if you have or haven’t been along, there is one thing very important that we don’t have but a lot of people ask for it…….Can you guess?

That’s right you guessed it a toilet! Now I know we hand out food for free but so often people waiting to get food suddenly need to go, and as you can imagine having to walk down the road and around the corner is not the best outcome! (We are talking about the nearest public toilet!!! Just in case you were wondering) And for parents with kids this walk turns into a nightmare at times especially if its raining.

We are raising funds to purchase our own port-a-loo and have enough money for it to be serviced for a year! We have found a great deal which even has a hand washing basin which is a huge bonus! We want to give those who come a great experience and you may think ugggh a port-a-loo but trust me its better than no loo!

As a trust we focus on food but we have come to realise that we need to get a loo, this will benefit all those who come especially the family's with small children. We have looked at many options and the best is if we buy it outright and pay to get it serviced.

Any extra donations over our goal will go towards any unforseen costs towards the toilet and towards continuing our mahi rescuing food, feeding people and building community.

About us

Kairos rescues food from supermarkets, cafes, farms and restaurants, and distributes it to food banks, community groups, and churches across Christchurch, ensuring it reaches the people who need it the most.

Use of funds

The Toilet is $1500 inc

Servicing is $40 inc each week x 52 weeks = $2080

So we are looking to raise $3580
