Here at Retired Working Dogs we have many lovely dogs that are requiring veterinary care - can you help us?
Manawatu / Whanganui
We hate having to ask for money but unfortunately we are in need of a hand with our current and upcoming vet bills for both surgical and medical treatment. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will help us to continue helping these remarkable dogs.
I will fill you in briefly on a few of our lovely dogs that we have in foster currently:
“Cassie” came into our care severely underweight, she has gained weight and confidence due to her foster home providing such great TLC. Cassie is having problems with her kidneys and at this stage we don’t know what the future holds for her but she is a beautiful girl with so much love to give.
“Cilla” came into our care with multiple chronic medical issues. She is a beautiful, dottery old lady, we are working on getting her to gain some weight and be more comfortable on mediation before considering rehoming her. She loves to sleep all day on a big cushy bed and loves a pat. Cilla enjoys her visits to the vets, as they have underfloor heating!
“Bobby” the pup was run over by a motorbike and sustained a broken tibia, he is currently in a cast and needs lots of check-ups, cast monitoring and cage rest. Everyone who meets Bobby falls in love with him, he is full of personality and charm.
“Jake” retired off the hill country after 12 years of hard work. He has chronic eye issues that require twice daily eye drops. He is so tolerant of all the medication and having his eyes wiped. We are monitoring him and getting him reviewed with his vet until we find the best treatment for him. His foster has been working to get him used to dog sunglasses, at this stage he hasn’t quite got the hang of them and bumps into things.
Please help out these great dogs and others by donating and sharing this post.

Retired Working Dog Adoption NZ was founded in July 2012. Our aim is to find a loving retirement home for these amazing dogs, after all their years of hard work. Working dogs are the backbone of our country, and when they are no longer able to do their job on the big farms, we are here to help them find a place to spend the rest of their days in comfort.
We also take in young "failed dogs" who are not talented enough for the job they were bred for, as well as dogs who have sustained an injury and whose owner's cannot justify spending the money to fix them.
The funds will be used to pay the medical and surgical bills of our current fosters and any new dogs that come into our care,
