Dave Thornton is riding 3,000 kms to support survivors of sexual violence! Sponsor his epic feat now!
Nationwide
Meet Dave! Dave had a rather significant birthday recently and whilst many of us might consider slowing down, Dave thought to himself “I should cycle 3,000 km across the country and raise money for my favourite charity!”
Tour Aotearoa is one of the world’s great bikepacking trips: stretching from Cape Reinga to Bluff it follows a combination of cycle trails, tracks, paths and lanes connected by the most enjoyable country roads available.
Dave is mainly a road cyclist so he has been struggling with the transition from road to trail. But never fear, the last two times Dave has been mountain biking he hasn’t even fallen off! Dave starts his journey on 20 February in Cape Reinga and we will be sharing his epic journey via facebook.
Why Wellington HELP?
Dave has been a police officer for 31 years and has worked both in uniform and for CIB. He has worked closely with Wellington HELP for many years as police liaison and more recently as head of CIB in the Hutt Valley.
