Cycle for a Cause: Bhutan to Kalimpong, India for Dr Graham's Homes

$2,700 of $3,500 goal
Given by 32 generous donors in 9 weeks

A fundraising adventure, riding in in the shadow of the Himalaya's.

Nationwide

From September 17th to 24th, 2024 my brother and are joining 9 other participants and cycling over 250 miles, climbing over 12,000 ft, from Paro, Bhutan to Kalimpong, India, to raise funds for a school that my Great Grandmother attended in the early 1900's, and one that has been catering to underprivileged children for 124 years.

The school not only provides an education, and teaches life-skills but also provides a home for those not fortunate enough to have one. The children that benefit range from newborn babies to teenagers. It has impacted countless lives for over a century, including our Great Grandmother and we want to help it continue to do so. I hope to raise $3500 as my contribution to the cause and am counting on your generosity to help me reach my goal and support those in need.

Here’s a Wikipedia link about the history of this school.

Info on the ride can be found here - https://bikefordgh.wixsite.com/bikefordgh/the-2020-ride and we will also have a page running as we train, travel and participate in the ride.

Note: All donations received goes directly to the school to assist with infrastructure or child sponsorship. Participating cyclists are responsible for all their expenses. We do not use any funds from the donations received.

Thank You

My Great Grandmother was one of the first students to attend and live at the school, attending from 1900 - 1912 before being aided with her move to the opportunity of a better life in New Zealand.

Use of funds

Funds will be passed to Global OGB association (https://www.dghogbs.com) for improvements to the Dr. Graham’s Homes, Kalimpong, India and its facilities to help continue their great work.

The totals are in!  27 December 2024

What a result. Just over $30,000 USD raised by the group of 10 riders. Thanks to your support we have made a great start to the Betty Sheriff Arena remodel. This will provide a covered court area that the children of the school will be able to use in all seasons. Again, we thank you for your support!
