This page has been set up to support Vicki, Robert and the whole family as they navigate some very challenging times in the next few months.
Wellington
On Friday 9 December Vicki Roberts and her son Robert received some shocking news when Robert was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, something nobody predicted.
Robert and Vicki flew from Masterton Hospital to a hospital in Christchurch, where he has had blood transfusions. Robert is currently receiving Chemo in the High Child Care unit and then repositioning to the C. H. O. C unit, in Christchurch.
Robert and Vicki are looking at a 6-month period in Christchurch, if all things go well, obviously longer if there are complications. The next six months are going to be very tough on the family as the other siblings are in Masterton with other family members.
Our prayers, thoughts and best wishes are with Robert, Vicki and whanau at this challenging time.
I am the School Chaplain at Hadlow Preparatory School where Vicki is a much loved and respected teacher and colleague.
Funds raised will be used to help the whole family manage under reduced income and disruptions to their normal routines.
2 week break 4 August 2023
After over 6 months in various hospital settings, Robert is currently back home for a short break. As you can appreciate, this is an emotional time for Vicki and Robert as they have really missed their friends and family plus the familiar 'support' that comes from being home. They have been incredibly generous in putting some of their energy behind the 'Host a Roast' fundraising camping for the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
