Running the Emerson's Half Marathon in memory of Tessa Sheild, proceeds will be donated to Whanau Refuge Otepoti.
Dunedin, Otago
Tessa Sheild had a true love for running, something she shared with many of her friends. Together, we had planned to run the Emerson’s Half Marathon with Tessa on September 14th. Tessa was also deeply passionate about supporting causes close to her heart, including Whānau Refuge Ōtepoti, an organisation for which she gave her time as a volunteer.
To honour her memory, we will be running the half-marathon in her name, to carry on her legacy and strive to make her proud. By fundraising and raising awareness for Whānau Refuge Ōtepoti, an organisation Tess strongly believed in, we hope to celebrate her spirit and continue to feel connected to her by passing forward her support and kind-heartedness to others in need.
Otepoti-Dunedin Whanau Refuge is an organisation that advocates for women, whanau, tamariki, and rangatahi, supporting a pathway to safety. They aim to eliminate family violence in our community by providing support, advocacy, education and awareness.
Tessa Sheild was a friend and flatmate to members of this group. She was connected to Whanau Refuge by her volunteer work.
All proceeds will be donated to Whanau Refuge
