Running 21K on My 21st Birthday — For a Cure for Blood Cancer

$5,667 of $5,000 goal
Given by 128 generous donors in around 4 months

I’m running 21K on my 21st birthday to raise funds for leukaemia and blood cancer research after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Auckland

This year, I’m turning 21. But instead of a party or presents, I’ve decided to mark the day in a very different way — by running 21 kilometres to raise money for life-saving research for leukaemia and blood cancer New Zealand.

I’m doing this because on the 18th of Feburary 2025, I received the kind of news no one ever expects — I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system, a network of vessels and glands throughout the body. At 20, you imagine planning your future, chasing your goals, and living life to the fullest. Being told you have cancer flips everything upside down.

This run is personal — it’s for me. I’m running for everyone affected by blood cancer. For those still fighting, for those we’ve lost, and for the future we can change together. To some, 21K may seem easy but for me, I'm ready for a challenge.

By donating, you’re not just supporting me — you’re helping fund crucial research, support services, and future breakthroughs that could save lives. No matter how big or small, your contribution means the world to those who need it.

If you’re able to give, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if not, simply sharing this page can help spread awareness and bring more people into this fight.

Unable to donate but still want to play your part, run with me on Wednesday, August 13th, place and time still to be decided.

Clea Bouvier's involvement (page creator)

I’m fundraising for blood cancer research and support services because I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer — this cause is deeply personal, and I’m committed to helping others facing the same battle.

Use of funds

The money raised will help fund crucial research into blood cancer, improve treatments, and provide support for patients and families. Even if I don’t reach my $1,000 goal, every donation makes a real difference in the fight against these diseases.
