Raising funds for Heartfelt as I train to run the 11km Traverse on 3 November 2024, in honour of Beau Biddulph-Wall.
Auckland
I'm raising funds for Heartfelt as I train to run the One NZ 11km Traverse on the third of November, to honour our son Beau, who was born sleeping on 8 June 2023, at 18 weeks gestation, after years of infertility and loss.
Beau had Edwards' Syndrome (Trisomy 18), a profoundly debilitating and life-limiting genetic disorder. To understand more about our experience, here is an excerpt from a letter I wrote to our baby boy, before he was born:
“4 days ago, we found out that you had been diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome. This was the worst case scenario that we had been hoping would never come to fruition. This means that your life beyond my womb would be both very short, and very debilitating. You would have serious heart, lung and kidney issues, as well as severe mental and physical disabilities that would impact your ability to walk, speak and live.
We love you so much and we always will, my baby boy. We will honour your memory for the rest of our lives.
It has been the greatest joy of my life, growing and nourishing you.
You are loved. You are wanted. You were dreamt-of."
Any donation will be hugely appreciated and will directly help Kiwi families experiencing stillbirth, TFMR and life threatening illness, capture memories of their babies to treasure forever.
Heartfelt enabled phenomenal photographer, Georgia Rogers, to visit us in hospital and take photos of Beau’s birth and moments that we'll treasure forever – Cuddles, bathing, dressing him, and meeting his grandmothers and aunty.
All funds will go to Heartfelt; a volunteer org of professional photographers across New Zealand, dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families who've experienced stillbirth, or have children with life threatening illness.
With your help, I smashed it! 4 November 2024
Despite the strong southerly wind, I managed to run the entire course, and even got a new 10km and 5km personal best! With Jarrod’s help (and all of your incredible support and encouragement behind me) I ran the course in 1:07:41 (which is an average pace of 6:07/KM and super speedy for me)! Together we have raised $2,850NZD for Heartfelt, in honour of Beau. This is equivalent to about 34 photographer sessions being provided to families that need it most - A priceless gift to remember their child forever.
Thank you for each and every hugely generous donation, for helping me honour Beau, and for putting your hard-earned money behind this incredible cause.
