Help me fulfill the students "wish list" and fill the sports shed with new gear!
West Eyreton, Canterbury
Help the kids of West Eyreton School by donating to their wish list of sports equipment.
The students of West Eyreton School love sport and need our help to re stock their sports equipment which is overdue for replacing! As a small rural school, community support is so important so I am doing my bit to give back and inspire the kids to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
What am I doing? On the 25th of August I am running a 160km Ultramarathon called the Great Naseby Water race. Long, cold and a great way to get your support for my cause!
As part of this fundraiser I will also be volunteering at the school to discuss my goals for this challenge, what it will take to be fit and ready to achieve such a big task, how to set SMART goals, benefits of being active and technique sessions for our next generation of runners.
Check out the challenge here: https://www.greatnasebywaterrace.co.nz/therace
My children Jackson (6) and Violet (5) are students at West Eyreton School
All funds go directly toward West Eyreton School. Each class has written a "wish list" of the sporting equipment that they want to keep them active. Any extra funds will be put towards key sports equipment and trips.
Thank you! 29 August 2023
Race day has been and gone and the family are back home from a massive and memorable road trip. A huge thank you to you all for the kind donations and support. With the combination of the equipment & funds donated we have enough to keep the schools sport shed full for a few years!
My run in Naseby didn’t quite go to plan with very unexpected stomach issues. I’d made it through 60km comfortable, eating and drinking heaps and in the lead with one other when I was suddenly unable to keep down any nutrition. I battled for 30km longer in the hopes I could get back on track but at 90km I was wobbling around, blurry eyed and we had to do what was safest and stop. Having raced 8 ultramarathons and done well in them all, I was very disappointed not to complete this one. The Mon-Fri 4:30am alarms and hours upon hours of training and sacrifice were still worth it though!
I visit the kids at West Eyreton School in a few weeks to pass on your kind donations and take forward my journey and the lessons to inspire the kids. And that is how when we try to achieve we only risk failure, when we don’t try we guarantee it! How we can prepare for the best, and cope with disappointment is just as important and being humble in our success.
Thanks so much for following along and supporting the kids. Get out there and set a big goal and start!!!
