Save the Ruakaka Recreation Centre!
The Ruakaka Recreation Center needs help to raise funds to improve necessary fire protection measures within the center.

The Ruakaka Recreation Centre is a small non-profit organisation that provides community facilities and support to all ages, from babies to pensioners 90+. A recent mandatory report from the Whangarei District Council has meant the Rec Centre is now required to upgrade its fire protection measures within the centre itself. Until the upgrade is completed, the new tenants are prohibited from moving in which in turn means the centre is losing vital income that it relies on as the buildings are currently sitting empty. The cost of the fire protection upgrade is estimated to be between $70,000 and $100,000-money the Rec Centre simply doesn't have. The centre is doing all it can to raise funds through grant applications and fundraisers. If we can't raise the money soon the Rec Centre is in great danger of being forced to close. This is a call for help-we are appealing to you all to help raise funds so that the Ruakaka Recreation Centre can continue to support its much-loved community.
Use of funds
All funds will be used to finance the work to bring the center up to the required fire safety standards. If we exceed our goal, the surplus will be used to improve other parts of the Rec Center.
