Give two Kaimanawa horses a new life, saving them from slaughter.
Waikato
Last year I stumbled across the documentary series "Keeping up with the Kaimanawas" - an awesome, inspiring tale of the journey of The Wilson sisters and the Kaimanawa horses they'd saved from slaughter. The muster happens every year, to ensure the wild horses have enough resources to thrive.
This year, I'd like to give you a chance to be part of something special. To help a dear friend, Kirsten Rose, to save two of these gorgeous horses. To save their lives, by giving them a new life with a very special woman.
Kirsten has an incredible space for these horses, but needs help to get them there, and at a point where it's safe for them to be there . Here's a link to her wonderful farm http://www.allabouthorses.co.nz/page/330301
There is a firm deadline on this, since the muster is happening at the end of April so we have to act fast. The deadline? April 18th. We've submitted the application and have reserved space with a local, experienced handler. Ann (the handler) is close to Kirsten so it means Kirsten will be able to get to know the horses early on, to help with their transition. But time is running out.
Now I know that's not much time, but I have faith. Faith in you, my friends and family. Faith in Kirsten's friend and family. And faith in the generosity of people's hearts - that they'll contribute what they can (even $5 would help) to give these magnificent creatures a new life. What an apt time to be asking, at a time of rebirth.
Please, PLEASE, contribute what you can. I'm sure (if we're successful) Kirsten will keep us updated by photos on her page. If the campaign isn't a success (if we don't raise the money in time), the funds will be used to save other horses from slaughter. So, either way, you're saving a life.
$1000 will save one. $2500 will save two. Our goal is two - so please give generously.
Thanks!
I'm involved because I care deeply about these gorgeous horses, love to ride (not able to anymore) but my nieces and nephews have carried on my love for horses - one in particular is horse-mad. Luckily, I have a very talented & loving friend who has space in her heart and on her beautiful farm for two of these magnificent animals so they will be loved and cared for. The trick will be to get the money raised in time for the equally talented Ann to save the horses from slaughter and train them so they'll be safe on Kirsten's farm. Luckily, I have the skills, friends and mindset to achieve this - as does Kirsten. So please join us!
They've arrived! 29 April 2016
Great news!! The two beautiful Kaimanawas have arrived at Annie's, their temporary handler. Kirsten is going to visit them this weekend and will get photos for everyone. We are only just over halfway to goal, though, so it would be incredibly wonderful to raise the rest of the funds as soon as possible to cover the costs so Kirsten can focus on the Kaimanawa's, rather than budget issues. Thank you for your help thus far... if you can give just a few dollars more, and share widely, it would be terrifically appreciated.
