Please help Kiera get the work up she needs to get her back to full health.

Waipukurau, Hawke's Bay

Please help Kiera!!

This is such a difficult time to be reaching out for help, but this poor girl deserves help as much as the next furbaby. Backstory: Kiera was found wandering the streets in Featherston. The pound contacted her owner (or at least the person registered to her microchip) and they informed the pound they no longer wanted her. She then spent the following 12 days in the pound, not knowing if she would ever be picked up. Abandoned. Thankfully the ranger felt for this girl and reached out to all sources - rescues, kennels, fosters but with the cyclone hitting this week and huskies having somewhat of a bad rap, no one was willing or able to help this darling 2.5yo girl out. I got wind of her situation on Facebook and drove straight down from Hawkes Bay to Featherston to prevent this baby from being PTS this morning!! She needs a thorough workover at the vets. At the very least she needs a check up and vaccinations. She also has a limp, is very stiff in the front legs and has quite a bad skin issue going on, therefore ideally she needs bloodwork to check her health, x-rays to see if she was injured while wondering or if it's something else giving her grief, medication and topicals to help combat her skin issues and she could really do with a good teeth clean and physio if funds allow. She also isn't speyed. Being in Hawkes bay I am extremely aware how tough times are right now but if you can spare anything at all to help me help her, it would honestly be amazing!!

Use of funds

Vet bills. Bloodwork, dental care, xrays, desexing, medication and possible physio if funds allow. Please reference #8361 H Walker

Xray Results  20 March 2023

Hi guys. I fiiinally have an update for you all 🙏 After being booked in three times over the last 2 weeks for her xrays, and the vet not having time to actually get them done (they've been so busy with my other two 😮‍💨) we managed to finally get the xrays done this afternoon! She had her shoulders, elbows and wrists all xrayed!

The scans show no breaks (phew) but they do show action (more movement than normal) in both of her wrists (worse on the left). They also show that she was seriously malnourished as a pup and her bone density is not at its finest 😢 This means no strenuous activity for her otherwise it could result in a break 💔 I'm sad that humans failed her this way. The good news is that she doesn't need surgery. The bad news is that there is no quick fix or cure. She will now be on pain management and bone & joint supplements for life to help support her through life. There is possibly ligament damage so ideally I'd like to do an ultrasound to see what's going on soft tissue wise but that all depends on givealittle donations. Thank you all for your donations and kind words. Sorry for the delay in updates but we are finally getting the answers we needed 💕 Thanks for following Akiras journey 🥰

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
