Save Luna sweet Japanese Spitz girl.
Henderson, Auckland
Luna was attacked and mauled by a much larger dog whilst playing at her favourite park late on Sunday evening January 8th. We could see she was badly injured and rushed her to an emergency vet. Her belly had been torn open in two places but this was not her most significant injury - she also had a puncture wound through her back that went past her ribs and injured a lung. Her diaphragm was also torn. She had surgery in the early hours of Monday morning where her injuries were repaired and a part of one lung was removed. She is recovering slowly but still in hospital with chest and abdominal drains in place.
She is my love and agony aunt + dear family member for my two boys 10 & 14.
We were warned that her treatment would be expensive but my heart would have broken to risk losing her without a fight.
I committed to her survival even though I knew it would be very difficult to come up with the money to pay.
The bank is going to lend me the money up front but it will be difficult to pay back - I am already 62 and the loan term will be 7 years.
Current vet costs have reached $14,000 and are projected to be well past $20,000 by the time she is released from hospital. Even the loan I have managed to secure does not match that.
Please consider helping my girl - I will help her survive no matter what but if we are fortunate enough to exceed that any surplus would be donated to animal rescue.
Arohanui & thanks
Emergency surgery and animal hospital costs (almost all) + her immediate recovery.
If surplus then this would be donated to animal rescue.
Day 345 – Getting ready for the blizzard 1 December 2023
Luna is starting to shed her voluminous undercoat so the snowstorm/veritable blizzard is about to hit my abode. I will be more festooned in furry accoutrements than usual! Think she must be about ready to come ‘on-heat’ so looks to be the combo. Hopefully her son will not be driven do-lally from the pheromone storm this time so things should be a tad more calm at home. Evening walk, meetings with random other canines, rolling, train chasing and barking at random strangers tonight – just the usual huh!
They are both in fine fettle and gloriously affectionate as ever.
Than you for your generous contribution.....her tail wags (well actually she is barking at the poor new neighbours)
Thank you Lashara for your generosity
Thank you for your generosity Laceylou
Thank you Kazel for your generosity in both generous donation and empathy - the heart huh!
Thank you LaceyLou the Spitz too - my girl leans forward on her forelegs and salutes you with her (ditto huh!) tail
