Help Erin and Isla get to the World Championships in Europe this winter.

Kerikeri, Northland

Erin and Isla Kee need funds to take part in the RS Feva European and World Championships in Hungry and Italy this winter. They will fly flag for NZ and Kerikeri Cruising Club.

The events will be held between 9th and 28th July 2023.

Erin (16) and Isla (14) are up and coming Northland sailors. In April this year they placed 2nd overall at the NZ National Championships and are the Women's Champions for 2023.

Erin and Isla love all aspects of sailing. They are key members of the Kerikeri High School Teams Racing Squad. Recently they were part of a team that qualified for the gold fleet at the Harken Secondary School Keelboat Championships. They also love to sail to bays in the Bay of Islands and camp on some of our local islands.

The girls have a strict training programme. They work hard on their fitness at the Community Gym before school and sail three or four times a week to improve their skills.

They have been working hard to raise funds for their sailing selling sausages, cakes and delivering coffees at parent’s nights. They still need more funds to enable this campaign to be successful for travel, accommodation, and a new suit of sails.

Use of funds

Sails, boat hire, accommodation, food and travel to the two events within Europe.

Final Update  14 August 2023

Apologies for taking so long to post this final update. Jetlag and getting back to work :-). Erin and Isla finished the worlds in 21st place out of 210. Day four was very light and a big lesson for them in big fleet light weather sailing so they dropped down the fleet a little. Day 5 they were back on form sitting in 12th but gear failure and a black flag in race 14 cost them dear. Overall a massive learning experience and a credible finish. Thanks so much to you all for your generous support. The girls are keen to move into the more powerful 29er class so watch this space! Thank you all!!

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
