Solo Mum requiring shoulder Surgery not covered by ACC

$2,350 of $7,000 goal
Given by 23 generous donors in around 7 months

Solo mum needing shoulder surgery not covered by ACC, this is my last chance, I have tried everything else

Northcote, Auckland

I’m a born & breed Kiwi, back in 2011 I was out having fun with friends & slipped on a wet, mouldy deck. This resulted in me dislocating & seriously breaking my wrist.

After being in a cast up to my armpit for 6 weeks my shoulder had understandably gotten rather achey.

NOT ONCE WAS AN X-RAY TAKEN OF MY SHOULDER 😢

I was continually referred to physiotherapy, chiropractic, pain clinic etc for years.

In this time I chose to move on with my life, not let pain dictate my future and I moved overseas for a few years.

The pain continued to intensify but I was unable to do anything while overseas.

A few years after my return (2018) I saw a Physiotherapist who manipulated my shoulder & realised it was partially dislocated and due to the amount of scar tissue surrounding it the educated guess was made that it was a direct result of my broken wrist in 2011.

Since then I have had numerous steroid injections into different parts of my shoulder with zero relief. In August 2024 I finally had surgery to try & repair my shoulder. Unfortunately this was not successful and I now need another surgery.

Because ACC refuse to acknowledge that this issue is a direct result of my 2011 injury I am having to go public with my surgery & cover my own wages while recovering.

As a newly single mum most weeks are very tight anyway let alone with no money coming in.

I was only given 2 months warning for this surgery & have not been able to save in preparation

Use of funds

The funds raised will be used for daily living expenses ie: food, power, mortgage, bills etc. while I’m on unpaid leave after this necessary surgery.

Thank you all so so much  27 November 2025

Surgery’s now done - well 2 out of 3. I’ve put the final one on hold for now, I can manage as it is.

But huge heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and supported me in other ways during my time off. I appreciate everyone so much. Now I can get back to life with my number 1 little fella & pain is no longer a daily burden
