Sistema Whangarei is a vibrant, innovative community music organisation with the following aims:

Our aim is to impact the lives of under-served children in our community through orchestral music training.

Our goals are to strengthen the spirit, and foster making positive choices, creating an environment of “anything is possible” for self and others.

Our mission is to deliver this innovative, community based, El-Sistema inspired programme for our young people, beginning in early childhood, such that their experience as they are growing up is one of a ‘sense of place’ and a passion for life and music.

This year 20 of our young people have been given the opportunity to attend a musical workshop hui in wellingtion

If the event gets cancelled due to covid we will still be taking the 20 children to wellington at a later date . We are also looking at other avenues to raise funds so if this fundraiser doesn't raise enough we will still put all funds raised towards the plane tickets for the children to travel.

About us

Sistema Whangarei -Toi Akorangi teaches orchestral instruments and musicianship FREE OF CHARGE ,since April 2013, to children and young people in Whangarei who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to learn.

Use of funds

To fly 20 young people from whanagrei to wellington and back to attend a musical hui with other young musicians. Extra funds will go towards instrument repairs. If hui is canceled young people will still go to wellington at a later date.
