A Journey of chemo & neurofibromatosis. Her journey of only having sight in one eye. having a feeding tube.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Little Sophia has tumors behind both her eyes called optic eye nerve glioma. The tumor behind her left eye is significantly bigger than her left eye leaving her basically blind and is pushing her eye forward. The tumor behind her right is smaller but she still has most of her vision left in that eye for the time being.
To better describe her sight she cant see the biggest letter on an eye chart.
Sophia life has also had some more bumps in the road with blood transfusions and now being fed via a feeding pump 20 hours a day.
She will not regain the vision that she has lost, and will loose all her beautiful hair.
Sophia will be on chemotherapy for 2 years. The treatments aim is to prevent her from losing any more vision and also helping the pressure on the left eye from pushing her eye forward. The treatment is not guaranteed to save her vision.
Sophias optic eye nerve glioma is caused by a condition called nerurofibomatosis type 1 or nf1. Nf1 is with her for life. Here is a link explaining it more http://www.nfnz.org.nz/ .
The funds will go towards the families everyday expenses, wages loss, also travelling to Palmerston North hospital regularly and traveling to Auckland regularly. Funds will also help he family to get into a new house that is healthier for Sophia.

MRI and Orthoptist 16 October 2015
Sophia had an MRI and it showed slight improvement in both eyes.
Orthoptist showed that nothing much has changed but he wouldn't expect it after only 17 treatments.
