Sophie - Burned By Bleach

Radioactive iodine injection needed by super smoochy girl cat now in foster care.

Auckland

This dear little girl cat was handed into a vet clinic where she stayed for 3 weeks while they battled with the badly burned pads on her feet. She was black and yellow rather than being black and white and her legs and feet smelled very strongly of bleach. The skin on her paw pads was raw and it all peeled off.

She looked elderly - unkempt and on the skinny side - but her teeth were really good and so it was guessed that she had had a very hard life - whether she was owned or unowned - and was considerably younger than the previous estimate of 10 years. No one even wanted to think about how she came to have the burns on the skin of her feet...

Sophie is super friendly, likes - no, actually make that "LOVES" - being handled, cuddled and patted; she will snuggle into your neck when held close to your face. In short, she is a doll :-)

She needed a place to go so when the call went out, we put our hands up but as we always do with our mature cats, we asked the vet to do bloods and sadly, she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. That didn't stop us though and we now have her in foster care while she is on the waiting list for the radioactive iodine injection which will sort this for her.

The cost is prohibitive - even with the discount that the lovely VSG gives us - but she is so worth it and this is what this Givealittle page is all about. She needs $1000 in her piggy bank and we'll do everything we can to help her raise it. Please help us help her.
