The hay is about to be cut. we need to get the hay into the shed. Help us to help our riders, our horses are an integral part of our team.
Blenheim, Marlborough
Did you know that horses eat for approximately 16-18 hours a day?
The horse is predominantly a grazing animal, designed to eat small amounts, frequently. Their natural feed is grasses and other edible shrubs and plants - and hay.
Each year we need to procure approximately 1,200 bales of hay to feed our wonderful horse team.
We pride ourselves on the welfare of our horse team and ensuring that they have the right diet is imperative to their well-being, which enables them to be able to help our riders in a calm and safe enviornment.
We are very privileged to have a community that helps us to do what we do well, and we have locals who grow and bale hay for us - A huge thank you to Caythorpe Estate, Murray Downs and Jamie Timms.
However, it is a huge job picking up the bales from the paddocks, transporting it to our property and stacking it in the hay shed. We just do not have enough volunteers to do this job ourselves.
We do fundraise throughout the year to try to cover the costs for this but we are not quite there and need to do a final push before the hay is cut in November/December.
If you can donate, it would be very much appreciated.
The Core Purpose of NZRDA is to provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs.
We aim to enable and support them to achieve good lives.
Funds raised will go towards the service the transport company does for us which involves truck transport and personnel to pick up and deliver.
Many thanks for your support, really appreciate it. From all of us at RDA
