Support Ana-Carolina in the community

Thanks to all our supporters over the years. It was amazing to finally leave the hospital after over 5 years! We have now been living outside of PICU for one year, and Ana-Carolina has only returned to PICU for her monthly infusion. She has kept in exceptionally excellent health.

The Orewa community is wonderful and the area is ideal. People have been very welcoming and Ana-Carolina can walk for miles around the beach, estuary and shops.

She is now attending school and loving every minute of it, even the homework!

We have a great little team in place to support us in caring for Ana-Carolina, but unfortunately, the full team of carers has yet to be recruited. This means we have been unable to return to work. We work the hours that the additional carers were expected to have filled and this is unpaid. We struggle meeting the additional costs that Ana-Carolina’s health and wellbeing requires.

We would be very grateful for any financial support you would be able to help us continue to be able to live in the community and ensure that Ana-Carolina can live life to the maximum!

Right now we are looking for funding to access a seating system for Ana-Carolina that is not funded by the Ministry of Health. This would give Ana-Carolina the opportunity to sit in an especially designed seating system …she could then ‘relax’ with us in the lounge to watch TV and do her craft activities which she really enjoys…and not need to always be in her wheelchair or her bed. Your support would also help us with meeting the costs of living and renting in Auckland.
