Support Baby Asher’s Life-Saving Heart Surgery
Waikato
We’re a small family from the Waikato. After two years of failed IVF, we were incredibly blessed to conceive our beautiful son, Asher, naturally — our miracle baby.
While still in the womb, Asher was diagnosed with a rare heart defect called a double aortic arch. This condition forms a vascular ring that compresses his windpipe and esophagus. He also has a floppy airway (tracheomalacia), which further restricts his breathing.
Since birth, Asher has had many hospital visits and specialist appointments. He is now scheduled for a camera scope at Starship on August 11, this procedure will guide the surgical team in planning how to repair the double aortic arch.
We’re reaching out for support to help with the growing costs — including travel to Auckland, accommodation, and time off work. Isaac is self-employed, which means no paid leave, so every day off is unpaid.
Any donation, big or small, would be deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to give, a share or kind word means the world to us too.
Thank you for supporting our little fighter.
With love and gratitude,
Isaac & Katie

Update on Asher 30 August 2025
Hi all,
We thought it was time for an update after processing what happened with his surgery and the post surgery.
When the team went in they realised it was worse than originally thought and from the time they did the scope on Tuesday to the surgery on Thursday he had significantly deteriorated. His trachea had compressed to the size of the inside of a BIC pen. While in the surgery they also discovered that his right lung had partially collapsed because of the compression of the vascular ring around his trachea. The surgery went beautifully well and we are SO thankful for our amazing surgical team.
Now it is time for the road to recovery, while he is doing really well we are still hesitant with sickness etc as he still has a very raspy breathing which we have been told could take up to a year post surgery to go away.
Thank you for all the love and support through this rollercoaster with our youngest boy.
Isaac & Katie
