Amazing giving lady struck down suddenly with Bell's Palsy- A condition affecting the facial nerves causing one side of the face to droop.
Wellington
Desire' woke up a few days ago with a numb tongue and an eye that could not blink. She quickly deteriorated and was unable to close her mouth. On the way to work and dropping her daughters off to daycare and school her face became unrecognisable with the whole left side drooping. Originally doctors thought it was an allergic reaction and then a suspected stroke. Desire' is very lucky that this is not more serious but being diagnosed with Bell's Palsy is still very scary and she is unable to work. Having just started a new job in recent weeks Desire' is not entitled to sick leave nor does this condition entitle her to ACC.
Bell's Palsy can strike anyone at anytime and there is not a lot known about this condition with some sufferers taking a few weeks to recover and some taking many months. Desire' is the kindest, most giving person I know who is an amazing mother to two teenagers and a little 2 year old girl. She volunteers in her community as a netball coach and mentor and never says "no." My wish for Desire' is that over the next few weeks we can raise enough money to help her pay the bills, the medication and transport to and from doctors appointments as well as continue to support her children. Even the smallest contribution will make all the difference. Thank you!
See gallery for a beautiful photo of what she looked like last weekend before this condition took hold!
Desire' is my very dear friend who always puts others first before herself and I believe she is in this predicament because she always says "yes" without thinking of how any extra stress night affect herself. This page is just to keep her afloat while she has to be off work and will be cancelled once she can go back full time.
Use of funds:
To help her pay the bills, the medication and transport to and from doctors appointments as well as continue to support her children.
If there is any money left over once Desire' returns to week we will donate it to NORD- which is a foundation for rare diseases.
THANK YOU!!!!!!! 13 April 2018
To everyone who has prayed for and/or donated to Desire's page, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. We have all been seriously overwhelmed with your care, love and support. It is amazing what we can do as a community to help the ones we love when they most need us. This money is going to ensure Desire' can rest and recover and not be forced back to work early to support her babies and it would not be possible without all of you. We will be shutting down the page today at 1pm and no doubt you will be able to follow her recovery journey on facebook as we all know Des loves to share her life with you all :)
