Support Gav to Paris 2024 Olympic Games!
Prior to 2000, Gavin missed qualification for Sydney Olympics as an athlete himself by a miniscule 4 thousandth of a second. Not going to the Sydney Games changed the direction of his life - but all for the good! Change of direction from athlete to coach began his new epic coaching career! Gav epitomises generosity of spirit and humility in the way he freely gives of his time and skills to help others achieve their dreams! Gav has coached many athletes to international level over the years and is always filled with pride and joy when they achieve their dreams!
Gav has coached members of the Samoan Canoe Sprint team in a voluntary capacity for a few years now. Three of these athletes raced at the Tokyo Olympic Games representing Samoa. Now, in 2024, brother and sister Tuva'a and Samalulu Clifton have qualified for the Paris Olympic Games. Gavin has coached Tuva'a and Samalulu for nearly 10 years, based at North Shore Canoe Club.
Gav's dream of attending an Olympic Games has finally arrived, now as the coach to the Samoan Canoe Sprint Team for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games!
Gavin will first head to Bulgaria as assistant coach to the U23 Canoe Racing New Zealand men and women's teams for 3 weeks. When that contract ends, he travels to Paris to meet up with Tuva'a and Samalulu for their time to shine at the Olympic Games! Gav needs to fundraise to cover expenses at home in his absence as well as while travelling overseas.
Thanks for helping Gav make his Olympic dream come true!

Gav's CRNZ contract is part time and Samoan team coach role is voluntary. Fundraising is needed to cover loss of earnings while away, expenses both at home in his absence as well as while overseas e.g internal travel within Europe and contingency funds.
