Help me achieve my goal of representing New Zealand in gymnastics competitions in Texas by supporting my journey with your contributions!
Epsom, Auckland
I’m excited to share that I have been selected to represent New Zealand in two international gymnastics competitions in Texas, USA, in February 2025! In addition to the competitions, the tour includes an athlete development camp to support our growth. As some of you may know, I recently returned to gymnastics after taking a nine-year break. Living in Auckland while pursuing my tertiary education inspired me to give it another go.
This opportunity reflects years of hard work and dedication to my sport, not just in gymnastics but across all my commitments. Competing internationally has always been a dream of mine, and this experience fuels my enthusiasm to pursue even larger goals in the future.
I train around 16 hours weekly, balancing my commitment to gymnastics with my master’s degree studies and part-time work—so it’s a full plate! Unfortunately, this opportunity is completely self-funded, and the costs associated with this trip—travel, accommodation, competition fees, and the NZ uniform—are significant.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help me cover these expenses and enable me to focus on my training and performance. Thank you for your support!
The funds will cover travel, accommodation, competition fees, and the NZ uniform for my upcoming gymnastics competitions in Texas.
Update on Recent Competitions - Thanks for Your Support! 11 March 2025
Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to update you all on my recent competitions and, more importantly, thank you for your incredible support!
I’m happy to report that both myself and the entire New Zealand men’s team exceeded our expectations in the recent competitions.
The first event was the Horton Challenge at the Fort Worth Convention Center. I managed to secure a bronze medal on Floor in my division, and my team of four came second in the team event! We also had the incredible opportunity to meet Olympic medalist Jonathan Horton, after whom the competition is named.
The second event was the Valeri Liukin Invitational at the Ford Center in Frisco. This was a huge competition with over 8,000 competitors from 13 countries, including Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Canada, and more. I earned a bronze medal on Parallel Bars, and in the team event, we won the Level 9 team trophy by a small margin!
Competing on an international stage was an amazing experience, and we were all blown away by the sheer size of the meets. It was also incredibly inspiring to witness some of the fantastic gymnastics performed by other athletes.
Your donations have made such a difference in helping me get here, and I’m so grateful. I’m more motivated than ever to keep pushing forward, and I’m excited for what’s to come!
Thank you once again for your generosity and encouragement!
Cheers,
J-D
