Funds support long-term recovery for flood-affected communities in Sri Lanka through rebuild projects with Second Coffee International.
Wellington
On 28 November 2025, Cyclone Ditwah caused severe flooding and landslides across Sri Lanka, destroying homes, blocking access to roads and services, and displacing thousands of families. Many communities continue to face long-term recovery challenges.
This fundraiser supports flood-affected communities in Sri Lanka in partnership with Second Coffee International, a humanitarian organisation focused on community development, disaster response, and support for vulnerable populations.
Second Coffee International works with local partners and community leaders to identify areas of greatest need and deliver sustainable projects. Their approach prioritises long-term recovery by rebuilding essential community infrastructure rather than short-term relief alone.
All funds raised through this page will be passed in full to Second Coffee International. They will assess on-the-ground needs and implement a recovery project, such as rebuilding or restoring a school, orphanage, or similar community facility benefiting children and families affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
Use of Funds
Funds will be used by Second Coffee International to support long-term recovery initiatives for flood-affected communities in Sri Lanka. Working with trusted local partners, they will deliver a community-level rebuild project addressing ongoing needs caused by flooding and displacement. Updates will be shared once the project is confirmed to ensure transparency.
The money will be used to fund community-level recovery projects in Sri Lanka, such as rebuilding or repairing schools or similar facilities that support families affected by flooding.
Fundraiser update: thank you & what’s next 17 January 2026
Hi everyone,
🙏 Thank you for your incredible support so far
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and supported the Support Sri Lanka Cyclone Relief fundraiser. Your generosity and encouragement mean a great deal to us, and to communities across Sri Lanka affected by the recent floods caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
To give some context to the scale of the disaster: the total damage from the floods is estimated at US$ 4.1 billion, around 4% of Sri Lanka’s GDP, affecting all 25 districts across the country. The impact has been devastating to homes, infrastructure, agriculture, and livelihoods, with recovery needs expected to be significantly higher than the initial damage estimates. You can read more about the assessment here:
In response, we are partnering with Second Coffee International, a community-focused organisation, to ensure the funds raised are used in a meaningful and sustainable way. Our focus is on long-term recovery rather than short-term relief, including:
* Rebuilding homes destroyed by the cyclone
* Restoring essential community infrastructure, such as schools and similar facilities
Planning is currently underway with partners on the ground to identify the most suitable projects, and we’ll continue to share progress updates as work begins.
This is a community-led humanitarian effort. Every contribution — whether through donating or sharing the page — helps bring hope and practical support to families affected by extreme and unexpected weather conditions.
If you’re able to, please continue to share this page within your networks so we can extend the reach and maximise the impact together.
Thank you once again for standing with Sri Lanka during this difficult time. 💛🙏
