I have been selected for the NZ U19's Junior Mens Development Squad and will be travelling to Australia - Canberra in late September.
Bay of Plenty
One of my goals I set last year was representing my country and this year I have accomplished this. I have been selected and will be a representative in the NZ U19 Junior Mens Development Volleyball Team who will be travelling to Australia-Canberra to compete in the Australia Junior Volleyball Championship in late September 2015.
I was first introduced to volleyball when I was 11 years old. This was a foreign sport to my family. When I played my first game I thought it was really hard but it was something I could enjoy playing. I gave rugby league and rugby ago but still wanted to play volleyball so when I got to secondary school I carried on playing and there was no looking back.
During my secondary years I have achieved the following - in 2015, NZ Junior Mens Development Volleyball Team, winners NZ Secondary School Division 2, Captain of the Whakatane Senior A Volleyball Team - In 2014, North Island Youth Mens Volleyball Team, Eastern Bay Of Plenty U17 Volleyball Team and a member of the Whakatane Senior A Volleyball Team - In 2013, Eastern Bay Of Plenty U17 Volleyball Team and a member of the Whakatane Senior B Volleyball Team - In 2012, Central Bay Of Plenty U15 Volleyball Team, 2nd Place in the Bay Of Plenty Wide Secondary School Competition, Captain of the Whakatane Junior A Volleyball Team - And in 2011, a member of the Whakatane Junior B Team.
As part of this journey I need to raise $2700 just to get myself over to Australia. This money will help towards flights, accommodation, playing and travel uniforms so any contribution will be much appreciated. So excited to be representing NZ, so thank you in advance for any contribution made to my "give a little" page. It is very much appreciated.
Junior Volleyball Coach 1 July 2015
I have had a minor set back for about 3 weeks but all is back on track now. To help with my progress, myself and a friend has taken a coaching role up at our school to coach our year 9 junior volleyball team. This has helped me keep abit of my fitness up and also practicing my volleyball with the team. It has helped me go back to the basics and to really practice them. I am enjoying coaching and hope the boys are too.
