Helping ease the practical pressures while Hudson recovers and Suzie steps away from work to care for him and Oscar.
Matakana, Auckland
On Sunday afternoon, 15 February, Suzie’s almost 3-year-old son Hudson stepped into the road from between parked cars on Matakana Valley Road and was struck by a passing vehicle.
Hudson is incredibly lucky to be here, but sustained multiple breaks to his leg. He has already undergone his first surgery, with further procedures and a long recovery still ahead.
During this time, Suzie will be stepping away from work to be by Hudson’s side as he heals - while also caring for his big brother Oscar and doing her best to keep life feeling steady for him.
As anyone who has supported a child through significant injury knows, the impact isn’t only medical, it’s practical and ongoing.
This page has been created by friends to help ease the everyday pressures that come with long-term recovery; time off work, extra care needs, travel and simply allowing Suzie to focus on Hudson without the added weight of lost income.
This isn’t about covering hospital bills - it’s about giving their little family some breathing room to heal.
Suzie has always been someone who shows up for others in this community. Now it’s our turn to quietly show up for her.
If you feel moved to contribute, thank you. If not, your well wishes and support are just as appreciated.
I am a close friend of Suzie’s and have set up this page to support her and the boys during Hudson’s recovery.
Supporting Suzie while she steps away from work to care for Hudson through surgery and recovery, while also caring for Oscar - helping ease everyday costs during this time.
