Support Innovative Waste Kaikoura as they deal with the Kaikoura earthquakes and the HUGE extra workload they're about to undertake
Nationwide
Innovative Waste Kaikoura is a community enterprise that aims to help Kaikoura reach zero waste to landfill by giving a second life to Kaikoura's waste. Thanks to the hard work of Kaikoura's community they have been achieving 75% diversion from landfill. One of the highest rates in New Zealand!
Since the earthquake struck IWK have been working extra hard to deal with their towns waste and stick to their zero waste principles.
Funds raised will go to Innovative Waste Kaikoura to assist them to pay the costs of getting experienced waste diversion people in to support their staff, and to modify their centre to cope with damaged plant and to cope with the huge volumes of waste.
Innovative Waste Kaikoura are amazing members of CRN and their manager Rob Roche is one of our Trustees. We want to help them get through this and will be coordinating a roster of people who might be able to go and help IWK in the coming weeks and months, so keep in touch with us if you are interested in helping in other ways than donating here.
The Zero Waste Network represents community enterprises across Aotearoa New Zealand who are working towards zero waste.
Our mission is to:
- connect and empower a network of zero waste community enterprises across Aotearoa
- inform policy and procurement
- trial and deliver zero waste solutions

Hi everyone,
Its been a while, but I thought you'd all be really pleased to know that some good stuff has happened in regards to how Kaikoura and the surrounding region is going to deal with the earthquake waste.
The donations we received from all you generous people not only went to supporting IWK in the short term, but also into the development of a plan for how to deal with the deconstruction waste over the longer term. Last week the Minister for the Environment announced a $2.6million dollar package to make that plan a reality.
Here are a couple of links for more information about the package:

This is an important step for Kaikoura in terms of the rebuild, but will also provide some important lessons for other communities in disaster situations.
Once again, thanks for your support!
