Our mission is to prevent drowning and injury! Our Lifeguards provide a volunteer patrol service saving hundreds of people every summer.

For Surf Life Saving Northern Region the repercussions of COVID19 have been significant. The pandemic’s disruptions didn’t stop Kiwis frequenting our beaches last summer – bans on overseas travel saw beachgoer numbers increase significantly - but our Lifeguards were on hand to make sure they left the beach with happy memories.
Hundreds of lives were saved on Northern Region beaches including 405 people rescued from life-or-death situations. A further 610 people were assisted to shore during patrol hours, while 626 received first-aid help. Our Lifeguards carried out more than 21,293 preventative actions, involving 133,528 people.
The biggest challenge we face as a result of the current pandemic is a drop in our funding. For many years our service has been community-funded; we rely heavily on your donations and community grant funders to deliver our Lifeguard service.
Your donation will make a difference to the level of service we can provide this summer.
Our mission is to prevent drowning and injury! We ensure that our Lifeguards provide the highest quality rescue service to save hundreds of people every summer.
Your donation will contribute to our core operational expenses leading up to and including our next surf lifesaving season, allowing us to continue providing the level of essential service in the Northern Region, the wider community heavily depends on.
