Time is critical. We urgently need your help to save kids' lives.
Nationwide
Earthquakes have shattered children's lives at the Syria - Türkiye (Turkey) border.
We are making an urgent call for funds to help children affected by this disaster.
UNICEF is already on the ground, moving quickly to respond to the needs of thousands of families and children affected by devastating 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck the Türkiye-Syria border on the 6th February 2023.
Thousands of children are in immediate danger after being made homeless and losing family members. They desperately need urgent shelter, safe drinking water, and hygiene essentials while the freezing winter temperatures pose an additional challenge to their survival.
Our initial focus is delivering water to those displaced, assessing impact on main water stations, and providing supportive nutrition. Child protection will also be crucial to assist those separated or unaccompanied. We may also need to set up Child Friendly Spaces and start some PSS interventions given the psychological impact of the disaster and displacement.
UNICEF has been in Syria since 1970, and in Turkey since 1951, doing whatever it takes to reach kids in need. We were on the ground before this emergency struck and will continue to remain long after the headlines fade. We'll never give up on children caught up in emergencies - even in the toughest situations.
Our lifesaving work is only made possible thanks to the support we receive from donors like you.
UNICEF is the world's largest children's organisation, and has spent more than 77 years saving children’s lives and fighting for their rights as part of the United Nations.
Donations will be used to provide shelter and deliver water to displaced families, provide nutrition support and child protection, and help reunite kids who have been separated from their families after the quakes.
Kids and families affected by the earthquake still need our help 24 July 2023
Almost 6 months on from this disaster and more than 7.7 million kids still require humanitarian aid. UNICEF is on the ground in affected areas and continues to work tirelessly to reach those in need with clean water, healthcare, education and other essential services.
