Tamai Sports supporting healthier children and healthier communities through enabling participation in sport.

Canterbury

Tamai Sports is a charitable community impact organisation which provides children aged 9–13 from the Tamai Learning Cluster from East Christchurch the opportunity to participate in sport by removing any socio-economic barriers.

The children are selected for the programme by the Principal’s of the decile 2–4 schools involved in the Learning Cluster. These children have had no previous exposure or opportunity to be involved in team sports, and are selected by the school’s based on having the greatest need of the benefits that come from participation.

Along with enabling participation in sport Tamai Sports is to provide a culturally appropriate programme that promotes identity and purpose. Health and wellbeing is off the upmost importance to Tamai Sports with the programme offering the services of a qualified nutritionist, nurses and general practitioners at no cost to participating children and their whānau.

About us

Tamai Sports exists to ignite future possibilities for tamariki by removing barriers to participation.

Use of funds

Funds will go directly into removing the socio-economic barriers blocking participation in sport. These barriers include transportation, food, equipment, uniforms, boots, shoes, fees and health services.
