Up to $40,000 worth of equipment has been stolen from the park. We need help to replace it all. Insurance won't cover replacement values.
Bay of Plenty
A bad day for the Te Puna Quarry Park. Persons unknown have broken into our garage and work shed and stolen a great deal of machinery and tools. Our volunteers are devastated that people could do this to a charitable organisation. This happened sometime over the weekend of 25th/26th August, probably evening. We have lost our much loved white Suzuki mini truck, a 4WD off road workhorse. Also gone are our 13 months old Masport 4WD ride-on mower, our red Townstow trailer, our Hansa chipper, a red Honda generator, all our chain saws and weed eaters, concrete mixer, arc welder, and various other tools. This will make so much work for us volunteers having deal with insurance company and trying to replace all of this. Even with insurance (unsure of amount we will receive because major items will cost a lot more to replace than their present value), we will be well out of pocket. We invite people who love the Quarry to help us get back on our feet after this major setback.
Providing a magical place everyone can enjoy, where people can exercise, appreciate outdoor sculptures, enjoy the gardens and views. Children with their parents or their school group love this place, where they can learn about butterflies and frogs and plants. People can perform, get married or have a picnic. We are making a wonderful community asset.
We need to purchase new equipment - truck, trailer, ride-on mower, chipper, chainsaws, weedeaters and many other tools. Any surplus will be used in the park on maintenance and development.
