Teddy Bear Project

Former refugees have escaped conflict in nearly every continent on earth. Displaced people from Syria, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Myanmar and Somalia. The five largest countries where former refugees come from, make up 67% of displaced people worldwide. Unfortunately, many are children who have witnessed such atrocity and as they settle into their new homes, need to be reminded that they are not forgotten.

The Teddy bear project is an initiative providing Teddy Bears to former refugee children arriving in New Zealand to feel a sense of comfort after some have experienced very distressing events. More than anything else, children need to feel connected to others in order to feel safe. These comfort teddies help children to feel instantly connected to a companion. A companion that will stay with them throughout their lifetime. It's truly amazing how something as simple as providing a toy to a child can ultimately change their outlook and circumstances.
