Support for TeKahu and her whanau through her journey with cancer while they are away from home
Whakatane, Bay Of Plenty
Te Kahu is our 9 month old beautiful warrior baby. She has recently been diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare kind of childhood cancer that affects one or both eyes. For TeKahu we know that she is already blind in one eye and will need to have that eye removed, the other eye is also affected and she is going to need further treatment to try to save it.
TeKahu and her wonderful parents, Porsha and Tyla are in for a long journey and many trips between Whakatane and Starship Hospital in Auckland and a lot of time off work. They are young parents and have done everything in their power to advocate for their precious baby girl. They need their whanau and community to rally around them and envelop them with love and support. One way to support this beautiful family is to alleviate the financial burden. Your generosity is hugely appreciated.

Primarily these funds will be used to pay for the flights and expenses that will come from having to be away from home for treatment.
Te Kahu home and fighting 16 December 2022
Baby Te Kahu has kicked off her chemotherapy treatment and handling it like the little trooper that she is. She is back home in Whakatane and having regular blood tests and under the care of the Whakatane Hospital Paeds team. She’ll head back to Auckland every 4 weeks for more chemo at Starship. At this stage she has managed to avoid surgery and hopefully the chemo will mean she can keep both her eyes but time will tell.
Te Kahu’s whanau are so grateful for the aroha and awhi that they have felt from all of your generous donations, from people they love, their beautiful community and even complete strangers that have come to show they care.
Te Kahu’s strong spirit and smiles have helped keep everyone going and she continues to show her inner warrior every day. Thanks everyone!!!
