The beautiful Miss Molly Collie

About 3 months ago we got our oldest girl Molly spayed. Everything went very well and she bounced back to her old self in no time.

3 weeks ago I was letting all of my dogs out of their kennels when 2 of them attacked her.

These dogs have lived together for 4 years without any issues. After breaking up the fight I could see no injuries. The next day I saw a small amount of blood and found a puncture wound. I cleaned the area and applied some iodine spray. The next day the wound looked a lot worse and had an odour. I took her straight to the vet. Our beautiful girl had necrotizing fasciitis (a flesh eating disease).

She underwent surgery but sadly the skin grafted started dying. On the vets advise she underwent a second 3 hour surgery and all appeared fine until that grafted skin also started dying.

Molly has now been hospitalised and will be there for some time as she has treatment for the open wound. She will need daily dressing changes and careful monitoring by our wonderful vet and her team at Timaru Family Vets. The first surgery has cost $1,051.56.

Throughout this ordeal Miss Molly Collie has remained happy within herself and is lapping up all the attention she’s getting 😊She is a very loved member of our family and the thought of putting her down because treatment costs became beyond our means is an option I’m not willing to take.
