Kai Collective want to empower parents to be their own Santas in their homes, help them to bring that special Xmas morning to their whānau.
Auckland
Christmas can be a tough time for the most organised of us. It’s going to be even harder this year, even if we manage to get out of lockdown before the silly season, families will struggle to make it that much more special for their young ones. The Kai Collective are connected with many families through our local leaders and organisations that would love to receive something special for this time.
As parents, we understand the pressure to want to give something special to our little ones, and that’s what we’d love to help with. We want to empower our parents to be their own santas in their homes, helping them to bring that special Christmas morning to their whānau. So we won’t be having a Santa driving around in the days leading up to Christmas, instead, we’re going incognito. We’re going to sneak gifts to parents and caregivers, so that they can keep being the main adults and heroes that their children look up to, in their lives.
To join us, we have three options, the best is our new Givealittle page that we’ve set up just for our incognito Christmas. 100% of the funds we receive from this page will go towards the gifts and wrapping we will need. Kai Collective will cover all transport.
The second option is to give actual gifts. Please make them appropriate and as good quality as possible, we don’t want them wrapped, we’ll give that privilege to the parents. We won’t be accepting any unpackaged stuffed toys for safety reasons.
The third option is to volunteer your time to sort and match gifts with families, we don’t have any details yet for this, but if you would like to register your interest, email kaicollective@rakautautoko.com with your contact details and the subject “Incognito Christmas Santa Helper”.
Thank you for however you choose to help,

Incognito was a major success! 2 January 2022
Thanks to all of your support and others like The Mt Wellington Charitable Trust and The Panmure Business Association, we were able to distribute a total of:
- $5,000 worth of local business vouchers (500 x vouchers)
- $10,000 worth of gifts (500 x parcels)
- $20,000 worth of food parcels (250 x parcels)
This far exceeded our expectations and created a problem that we didn't anticipate, in workload it took to manage, pack and distribute all of this! Our team worked right up to 8.30pm on Christmas Eve, and pulled out all stops including extra volunteers, extra venues, longer hours and admittedly a bit of stress. We learnt a heck of a lot, and if we do this again next year, we'll for sure be doing it differently!
Thank you to each and every one of you that contributed to our campaign, every bit counted. The Kai Collective is still continuing after just one week break, and will be distributing kai to whānau throughout 2022.
We will be focusing on more long term, sustainable options for our whānau to access kai as much as possible, and would love for you to follow us on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/KaiCollectiveProject - as we move in that direction as much as possible.
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and fun New Years, let's all hope 2022 is much more enjoyable for all of us.
