The Hasta Memorial School (previously Spring School) - Education to Prevent Trafficking

$40,428 of $50,000 goal
Given by 156 generous donors in around 10 months

Human trafficking is destroying many young lives in Nepal. Together through education, we can stop this happening. Your support is vital.

Nationwide

We are raising money to help survivor-activist Anjali establish a school in her home district.

Anjali writes ... "For the last 10 years, I have had a dream - to provide education and hope to children in my village in Nepal, so that they will not have to suffer the trauma of human trafficking, as I did. When I was eleven years old, I was trafficked to India, where I endured several years in a brothel in Kolkata.

Thankfully, I was rescued and given the help and support I needed to heal and rebuild my life. The love of God, and the love and hard work of many people have gotten me to the point where I am ready to bring my dream to reality, I plan to offer a different life to children in my community, through the light of education.

Our village in the Himalayan region of Nepal has a huge problem with trafficking. A high percentage of the girls who grow up here are either sold into prostitution or forced into child marriage.

I'm raising money to build a school in my village, to prevent more girls from being trafficked, to give them a bright future, to raise awareness and change the mindset of my people. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me".

Initially, the school was to be called THE SPRING SCHOOL because spring comes after the dry winter when everything looks hopeless, with spring the flowers blossom. Similarly, the school will bring hope where there had been no hope. While this remains a goal the school will now be known as The Hasta Memorial School.

This project is supported by The Ride4Freedom and various speaking engagements in New Zealand. http://www.ride4freedom.org/
