Unfunded Treatment Cetuximab for Cancer
Nationwide
Life for Tiana aged 25 changed on April 19th 2018. She heard the words nobody wants to hear...
"You've got Cancer"...If that wasn't bad enough less then a week later we found out that the cancer had setup camp in 3 spots - her bowel, liver and lung....We packed up her life in Wellington and brought her home to the Waikato and within in 2 weeks she started Chemo, to date Tiana has had 6 surgery's, a week of radiation and almost 2 years of chemo only stopping for surgery and to have a break when her Oncologist advised she needed it. All was looking good, surgery number 5 was to remove the cancer in her lung we called it 'Elmo'. Somewhere between CT scan , surgery and another CT, Elmo invited its friends over and played hide and seek and didn't tell anyone, Elmo was removed but he left his mates behind... This called for a change in chemo in the hopes this will make Elmo's friends vacate. But this was not the case, they invited a few more friends......Sadly in Feb 2020 Tiana got the news that Chemo wasn't working - the end result, NO more Chemo.
Tiana is not ready to give up, not only does she have a nephew that will be 2yrs old in a few months and would like to watch him grow up she also wants to live and experience more of what life has to offer. She wants to try the unfunded treatment Cetuximab before its too late. Without this treatment Tiana has no guarantee to survive the year out. Her Oncologist is supportive and not ready to give up either...
The cost of this treatment is upwards of $40,000. Your help to fund this treatment would be greatly appreciated by both Tiana and her family who is trying to help where they can by fundraising.
